Jurisdiction Notification Tips
Notifications of emergency declarations and registration extensions are important to keep carriers moving.
We received feedback recently from some Port of Entry employees requesting that Jurisdiction notifications be as specific as possible. For example, include what an extension is for, if it applies only to renewing vehicles or also vehicles with temporaries that may fall in that same time frame. Does the exception apply to any vehicle owned or operated by the company, and should the carrier have a copy of the letter in their possession to present to the port of entry officer? Please make the most of your most notifications by including specific details.
IRP Annual Meeting – Registration is Open!
Please join us in St. Louis, Missouri for this year’s Annual Meeting! The meeting will be held May 11-14, 2010 at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark. The Missouri DOT Staff is looking forward to welcoming you to their state and ensuring an exceptional meeting experience.
The IRP Annual Meeting, along with being the annual business meeting of the IRP Membership, also provides valuable networking opportunities essential to the success of the Plan. Once again this year, the IRP, Inc. Board of Directors has approved funding for one representative from each jurisdiction to attend. This will be your best opportunity in 2010 to learn the latest developments, share best practices, and discuss and explore solutions to the issues important to you with your colleagues from across North America. You will also attend IRP, Inc. committee meetings and learn more about the many programs and resources available to the motor carrier industry. Sponsors and exhibitors will be on hand as well. This promises to be a fully interactive, exciting Annual Meeting!

The IRP, Inc. Board of Directors meeting will immediately follow the Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 15, 2010.

IRP Fee Test
Information to complete this year's fee test and supporting documents are available on the IRP, Inc. website by going to Information Exchange/Annual Fee Test.
The fee test should be completed between February 1-28, 2010. Results are due to IRP Mail by March 1, 2010. For additional information, contact Ken Carey at (703)485-5093.
Call for Volunteers
With the selection of IRP, Inc. committee vice-chairs, several vacancies have been identified. We are seeking volunteers to serve on these committees who are looking to gain firsthand knowledge of the latest IRP developments and bolster their professional partnerships with IRP colleagues.
To serve on an IRP committee, we strongly recommend that you have: 1) a willingness to learn more about IRP; 2) the ability to participate in committee conference calls; and 3) the time to work on subcommittee activities. The Peer Review Committee requires travel several times a year. Travel is funded by IRP, Inc.
Volunteer commitments are typically for two year terms, beginning now and ending December 31, 2011 (unless otherwise noted below), with the option of an additional two-year term. Listed below are the volunteer opportunities currently available. To be considered for a position, complete the attached form and email it to IRP Mail or fax it to: (703)831-8757 by March 12, 2010.

Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Award
IRP, Inc. is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the sixth annual Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Award.
This award is presented to an individual who exemplifies the leadership standards established by Mr. Reeves, and has distinguished herself or himself by outstanding contributions and involvement within the IRP Community. The winner will be announced at the 2010 IRP Annual Meeting in St. Louis, MO.
Michael D. Ramirez IRP Volunteer of the Year Award

IRP, Inc. is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the second annual Michael D. Ramirez IRP Volunteer of the Year Award.
This award is presented to an individual who has shown initiative, creativity and dedication to the IRP community through their work as a volunteer during the past year. This can include exceptional contributions as a committee member, making extraordinary contributions on a special project, or serving as an effective presenter at IRP meetings. 2010 United Motorcoach Expo
The 2010 United Motorcoach Association (UMA) Expo is underway in Las Vegas this week. The meeting is a huge success, offering a variety of sessions for motorcoach industry representatives. On Thursday morning, FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro addressed conference attendees, detailing FMCSA’s initiatives with respect to the motorcoach industry and the importance of working together to improve safety in the motorcoach industry.
