In May 2004 the IRP, Inc. Board of Directors approved recommendations by the Plan Review Task Force to conduct a rewrite of the Plan. A Plan Rewrite Working Group was formed and approved by the board. Below you will find updated information about the progress of the working group.
Timeline - tentative
Summer 2005
The Plan Rewrite Working Group developed an overview presentation of the Plan rewrite concepts (power point presentation), which was presented to attendees of this summer's AAMVA regional conferences. The overview explains what is involved in the rewrite and what the next steps are. The first draft of the rewrite will be available by mid-October 2005.

The first draft copy of the rewrite of the International Registration Plan (Plan) was made available for review and downloading on the IRP, Inc. web site on October 12, 2005.

November 2005
First full draft of the updated and rewritten IRP Plan will be presented at the IRP Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. The agenda will include breakout groups to allow comprehensive discussions of proposed changes.
December 2005 or January 2006
Face-to-face meeting of the IRP Plan Rewrite Working Group to review progress, analyze member feedback, and provide framework for second draft.
January and April 2006
Second full draft of the IRP Plan is presented to and commented on by membership at the IFTA/IRP Audit Workshop in Tempe, Arizona (January) and the IRP Manager/Supervisors Workshop in Austin, Texas (April).

IRP Annual Meeting September 2006
Final draft of rewritten IRP Plan, in appropriate ballot form, will be discussed in an open meeting.
Within 45 Days Following IRP Annual Meeting 2006
Membership will vote on Plan rewrite ballot.
January 1 or July 1, 2008
If approved by three-fourths of the membership, new Plan will become effective.
