The Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Award honors the memory of a man who dedicated his career to making sure the transportation industry had a fair and equitable approach to vehicle taxation and registration. Rick worked in the transportation industry for NAVL for over 27 years, most recently serving as their Director of Fleet Registrations. Rick played a key role as an Industry Advisor in the early days of the National Governors Association group back in the 1980’s which was organized to study Base State Agreements. He represented many of Industry’s concerns and needs, which later translated into the formation and full implementation of IFTA and other base state agreements.
In memory of Rick, the IRP organization, along with the Industry Advisory Committee, has created an annual award to be presented each year at the IRP Annual Business Meeting.
This award is given for distinguished service to an individual who has demonstrated those qualities that most exemplify the standards of leadership established by Rick Reeves during his 25 years of commitment to the Transportation Industry.
