Cost

 C1  How are fees calculated?
 Answer

Apportioned jurisdictional percentages are multiplied by the jurisdictional fee.

To determine the apportioned percentage of any given jurisdiction, divide the distance per jurisdiction by the total fleet distance.  Multiply the apportioned percentage by the respective jurisdiction's fees to calculate the cost per vehicle.

                     Examples:

C2 How much will it cost to register my fleet in IRP?
Answer  Your cost is dependent upon the jurisdictional percentages and fees where apportionment is desired and the number of vehicles in the fleet.  A fleet means on or more apportionable vehicles designated by a registrant for distance reporting under the Plan.  To obtain an estimate of IRP registration costs, use the IRP Fee Estimator, provided to IRP by Celtic.
C3 Why are fees to register a vehicle in IRP so high?
Answer Apportioned registration is based on several factors, and as a result, the cost varies,  All IRP jurisdictions charge annual registration fees according to the weight, and in some instances, other factors such as the age, axles, ad valorem taxes, etc.  Because each jurisdiction's fees are determined by their legislative branch, a jurisdiction's fee may increase at any time.  Another reason for an increase is an increase in the percentage in a jurisdictions, where the fees are higher.
C4
Why am I paying more than another motor carrier when we travel in the same jurisdiction?
Answer
Your fees are determined by the percentage in each jurisdiction.  Another motor carrier may travel in the same jurisdictions but have less distance in a particular jurisdiction.  The motor carrier may also have fewer vehicles in their fleet
C5 Why were my fees less last year?
Answer Because each jurisdiction's fees are determined by their legislative branch, a jurisdiction's fees may increase at any time.  Another reason for an increase is an increase in the percentage in a jurisdiction, or jurisdictions, where the fees are higher.  Fees vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
C6 Why is a credit card not an option for payment?
Answer Not all jurisdictions accept credit card payments.  Check your base jurisdiction's website to inquire whether or not they accept credit card payment.
