There will be two versions of IRP Cab Cards because the ones printed in RMV Service Centers (with no embedded decal) will not change and will remain the same as they currently are.

No More Expiration Month on Decals. Regular expiration decals (the same used for passenger and commercial vehicles) will now be given with IRP Cab Cards (both through the mail and in Service Centers) for transactions that require a decal. Because of this, beginning with the 2027 expiration year, Cab Card decals will no longer have the expiration month; they will only have the year.

When a decal is required, only one will be provided for the back plate with each Cab Card.

Note: The regular embedded expiration decals sent by mail will have rounded corners.

For current IRP registrations, the existing cab card and TEAR will continue to be accepted as proof of registration by law enforcement. Over the next year, the newly updated cab card will replace the existing cab card through the replacement of credentials, IRP renewals, etc.

A Transferable Trailer can be defined as a trailer or temporary under carriage towed by a motor vehicle and used solely for transporting modular housing units, manufactured homes, or other portable buildings to be used for human occupancy and, if necessary, the return of the empty trailers/temporary undercarriage.

It is important to note that these carriers operate with IRP plates on the power unit. Full registration fees are paid so there is no loss of revenue for a jurisdiction.

Please share information with law enforcement personnel and any other necessary parties to prevent unintentional enforcement action against these carriers for using this plate for the purposes outlined above.

While this transaction is in progress, SGI requests no enforcement be carried out on their cabcards and registrations displaying their previous company name. Changing the naming on their certificates and getting the correct certificates out to the vehicles will take time. Please don't enforce any action on these vehicles based on the registered or operating name until Feb. 29, 2024.
