Awards Information

Each year, IRP honors outstanding leaders and volunteers with the Mick Ramirez Volunteer of the Year and Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Awards. These awards recognize the exceptional work done by those in the IRP community. Nominations are accepted year round.

Mick Ramirez Volunteer of the Year Award

The Mick Ramirez Volunteer of the Year is presented to an individual who has shown initiative, creativity and dedication to the IRP community demonstrated by his/her work as a volunteer during the past year. This can include exceptional contributions as a committee member, contributions on a special project, or serving as an effective presenter to the IRP community.


Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Award
 

The Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Award is presented to an individual who has distinguished herself or himself by outstanding contributions and involvement within the IRP Community. The award recognizes effective leadership and outstanding accomplishments and contributions within the nominee’s jurisdiction or within the IRP community.


2017 Award Winners

Winners in 2017 were:

  • Vic Parra, who was awarded with the Richard L. Reeves Leadership Award. Until his recent retirement, Vic was President and CEO of the United Motorcoach Association. He has been an integral part of the IRP community to promote motorcoach safety, both as a member of the IRP Board Advisory Panel and as a general contributor to IRP conversations.
  • Connie Owen of J.J. Keller, who was presented the Michael D. "Mick” Ramirez IRP Volunteer of the Year Award. Connie currently serves on the Dispute Resolution Committee, Education Committee, and the Industry Advisory Committee’s steering committee. Her willingness to help and her role as a voice of industry have been a great asset to the IRP community.
  • Bill Graber of Illinois, who was presented the Michael D. "Mick” Ramirez IRP Volunteer of the Year Award. Bill recently chaired the IT and Data Services Committee. Through the years, he has been dedicated to his work in Illinois and to the IRP community.
